Reflective Foil Insulation: An Effective Insulation Method
Insulation is always considered necessary to protect home or building exteriors
and interiors from extreme weather conditions, with many insulation materials
and different methods of installation available. One of these, reflective foil
insulation, is proving to be a highly effective insulation method.
Reflective foil insulation uses aluminum foil as its main material. Reflective
foil insulation consists of two layers of aluminum foil on the outside with a
layer of inert material between them for creating an air gap. To achieve the
desired effect, the inert material can be fiberglass or even polyethylene
bubbles. Aluminum foil can generate up to 97% of radiant heat transfer, which is
the principle behind this method of insulation, and can help in keeping a
building cool during summertime and warm during wintertime.
Aside from the fact that it works well as a mass insulation material and is
highly effective in hot or cold climates, reflective foil insulation has other
advantages. Humidity and moisture can't affect it, and the material also doesn't
cause eye or skin irritation, so special clothing or equipment isn't required
when installing reflective foil insulation. In addition, reflective foil
insulation makes it easier to illuminate interiors since aluminum foil reflects
light, which can save money on expensive utility bills through the years.
As a mass insulation material, reflective foil insulation is excellent for use
in exteriors and interiors of buildings, on the roofs of homes or business and
commercial offices, in attics and even in basements. Reflective foil insulation
works well in any kind of weather condition and is easier to install than other
types of insulation. Lots of people prefer installing reflective foil insulation
as it not only gives superior insulation benefits, but also saves on utility
bill costs.
